Many of you know about the nosebleeds, headaches, oil and gas odors and other problems possibly related (odors for sure) to the oil and gas drilling and ongoing production and storage in our hills.
Many of us have been reporting the smell of oil , gas, and other strange odors to the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) and they have noticed our complaints. We have spoken with their investigators. Now it's time to really step it up in filing complaints AS THE PROBLEMS HAPPEN!
Here is what we request everyone to do:
Here's the phone number to call: AQMD: 1-800-CUT-SMOG ( 1-800-288-7664 ) OR online:
THIS IS CRUCIAL FOR THE LONG-TERM HEALTH OF OUR COMMUNITY!
File a complaint with the AQMD anytime and every time you smell:
oil / tar odors, natural gas, the "rotten egg" smell (Hydrogen Sulfide)
or other odors in our areas.
The more reports they get, the more they will need to investigate the problem. Tell your neighbors and others in your household to go and smell it also and have THEM file a separate complaint! The more the better.
Log your complaint yourself: Date, time, who you spoke with, whether it was online or by phone and any response they gave you (or lack of).
ALSO: Call and / or email Jarrond DeGonia, Field Deputy, LA County Board of Supervisors office. He said we should notify him, so we will!
